The developers behind the PvPvE action game Dungeonborne, inspired by the acclaimed Dark and Darker, have announced the cessation of support for their title, along with the impending closure of its servers. The game, which launched with much enthusiasm, unfortunately, did not manage to sustain its player base over its less-than-year-long lifespan. The primary reasons cited for this include persistently low player engagement and the absence of meaningful updates to keep the community invested.
Although Dungeonborne's page remains available on Steam, it has become unsearchable on the platform, accessible only through a direct link. While the official statement did not explicitly detail the reasons for the shutdown, it is evident that the game's dwindling player numbers were a significant factor. By the end of 2024, the peak concurrent player count had plummeted to a mere 200, and in the days leading up to the announcement, this number had further decreased to a mere 10-15 active players.
The servers for Dungeonborne are slated for permanent closure on May 28, effectively concluding the game's journey. What began as a promising venture for fans of the genre will now quietly slip into obscurity, never having fully tapped into its potential.
