A new update for *Dune: Awakening* has just dropped, bringing a fresh wave of improvements aimed at enhancing the endgame experience—especially for PvE-focused players. This patch introduces expanded farming opportunities for Tier 6 resources and increases the likelihood of obtaining Unique items from PvE loot in the Deep Desert zone.
This comes after Funcom previously expanded the PvE area in the Deep Desert, increasing it from roughly 10% to 50% of the map. The change followed an AMA session where the team acknowledged player frustrations with the endgame environment and confirmed they were working on "formulating a plan" to improve PvP dynamics in the Deep Desert. Some players had described the endgame as “toxic” due to persistent griefing, especially after the controversial mechanic allowing players to crush each other using Ornithopters was supposedly patched. However, griefers found alternative ways to disrupt gameplay by intentionally landing their Ornis on others' vehicles, blocking access to key farming zones.
The previous major update, version 1.1.10.00, introduced several quality-of-life changes but didn’t directly address endgame concerns. This time around, however, the patch notes feature a dedicated section focusing on the Deep Desert, endgame progression, and Landsraad mechanics.
One of the most significant additions is the ability to collect Tier 6 resources across broader areas within the PvE sections of the Deep Desert. Previously, even with the updated zoning balance, players often struggled to find T6 materials without venturing into high-risk PvP zones. This adjustment should allow resource-hungry players to gather what they need with less exposure to hostile encounters.
PvP enthusiasts aren't left out either. A notable tweak involves increasing the delay for exiting a PvP security zone from 5 seconds to 30 seconds. This change aims to discourage border camping and gives players more time to secure their territory before becoming vulnerable.
Dune: Awakening Patch Notes 1.1.15.0
Deep Desert, End Game, and Landsraad
- Tier 6 resources can now be gathered across wider areas in the PvE portion of the Deep Desert.
- Unique loot container respawn timers in the Deep Desert now include randomization for added variety.
- Plastanium tier crafting components are now location-specific, dropping based on content type—Imperial Testing Stations, Caves, or Shipwrecks—each offering unique component sets. Fallen Shipwrecks and Buried Treasure may drop components from any location.
- PvE loot in the Deep Desert now has an increased chance to contain different Unique items.
- Medium spice field spawn rate increased from 5 to 8, while small spice fields rose from 22 to 30.
- The exit delay from PvP security zones has been extended from 5 to 30 seconds to prevent border camping and enhance area defense capabilities.
- Landsraad task mechanics have been updated to allow Kill and Delivery Contributions after task completion, though only personal contributions are awarded. Faction outcomes and guild votes remain unaffected by post-completion actions.
Other Improvements
- Enhanced overall game stability.
- Reduced instances of sandworms pushing vehicles under terrain.
- Added a new audio alert for PvP zone transitions.
Fixes
- Resolved an issue where the Harkonnen faction recruitment contract “Do you have what it takes?” could become stuck if dialogue with Maxim Kazmir was exited prematurely.
- Fixed a bug causing contract rewards to drop on the ground when inventory was full, potentially leading to missed items. Rewards will now only be granted if there's sufficient inventory space.
- Corrected vehicle modules not highlighting properly after applying customization variants.
- Fixed overlapping pentashield surface positioning issues.
- Patched an exploit that allowed building vehicles using items from another player’s inventory.
