*Monster Hunter Wilds* has streamlined many systems in the series, making it easier than ever to engage with the game. However, tracking the elusive Black Flame requires a bit of your attention. Here's a detailed guide on how to find and conquer the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*.

Tracking the Black Flame in Monster Hunter Wilds

Midway through the main storyline, around Chapter 3, you'll encounter the Black Flame monster. After its initial appearance, it will slither away into the Oilwell Basin. Your mission is to track it down and defeat it.

Start by leaving the Base Camp and make your way to Zone 9 of the region, as shown in the map screenshot below.

As you navigate towards Zone 9, keep an eye out for tar tracks on the ground. Interact with these tracks to trigger your Hunter to pick up the Black Flame's scent. This action will automatically engage your scoutflies, which will guide you directly to the monster's location. Follow the green path illuminated by the scoutflies to reach Zone 9, where you'll find a giant flaming crater. Continue following the scoutflies from there to locate the Black Flame.

The Black Flame, also known as Nu Udra, is a formidable creature with tentacles and the ability to unleash fire-based attacks. To ease the battle, focus on severing a few of its tentacles first. This strategy will open up access to its more vulnerable inner areas, increasing your chances of obtaining valuable materials post-fight.

To cope with the region's intense heat, it's wise to carry Cool Drinks. These will prevent your health from depleting due to the high temperatures, ensuring you stay in peak condition during the hunt.

With these tips, you're now equipped to track and defeat the Black Flame in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. For more insights and guides on the game, including how to change your Palico's language and techniques for capturing monsters, be sure to visit The Escapist.
