Nickelodeon and Avatar Studios have officially announced a new series titled "Avatar: Seven Havens" to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the beloved "Avatar: The Last Airbender." The series, masterminded by the original creators Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, will unfold over 26 episodes in stunning 2D animation. This new chapter will follow the journey of a young Earthbender, revealed to be the next Avatar after Korra, navigating a world fractured by a catastrophic event.
According to the press release from Nickelodeon, "Avatar: Seven Havens" is set in a universe "shattered by a devastating cataclysm." In this perilous new world, the young Earthbender learns she is the new Avatar, but her title comes with a twist—she is seen as a potential destroyer rather than a savior. Facing threats from both human and spirit adversaries, she, along with her long-lost twin, embarks on a quest to unravel their enigmatic past and protect the Seven Havens, the last bastions of civilization.
Expressing their excitement, Konietzko and DiMartino stated, "When we created the original series, we never imagined we’d still be expanding the world decades later. This new incarnation of the Avatarverse is full of fantasy, mystery, and a whole new cast of amazing characters." The series will be divided into two seasons, with a 13-episode Book 1 and a 13-episode Book 2, and will be co-created by the original duo alongside executive producers Ethan Spaulding and Sehaj Sethi. While the cast remains under wraps, anticipation is building for what's to come.
"Avatar: Seven Havens" marks the first mainline TV series from Avatar Studios, which is also working on a feature-length animated movie centered on Aang. Scheduled for a theatrical release on January 30, 2026, this film will explore a new adventure featuring an adult Aang.
