"Atelier Resleriana Shuts Down in Late March"

by Aiden Apr 23,2025

Koei Tecmo has officially announced the end-of-service for Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just a year after its global launch. The game will see its in-game purchases halted on January 27th, with all services concluding on March 28th. Players can look forward to several planned events to make the most of their remaining time with the game.

The developers have admitted that they were unable to maintain the standards they aimed for. Despite their efforts to enhance the game through updates and events, they concluded that continuing the service was not feasible. Lodestar Gems, essential for in-game activities, can still be used until the shutdown, although they can no longer be purchased.

For those familiar with Atelier Resleriana, this news might not be entirely unexpected. The gacha market is fiercely competitive, with numerous games fighting for player attention. While Atelier Resleriana introduced some innovative concepts, it faced challenges that hindered its success. The gacha and banner rates received criticism, which often left players feeling stuck in their progression. Additionally, the alchemy system, a hallmark of the Atelier series, failed to capture the expected creativity and engagement. The gameplay, while functional, did not stand out enough against more compelling options within the genre.

From the outset, Atelier Resleriana faced significant challenges, and in retrospect, the signs of its closure might have been evident. Social media platforms like Twitter and Reddit have been filled with requests from players for an offline version, though this seems unlikely. If you've enjoyed this turn-based RPG, take advantage of the final months to fully immerse yourself in its world before the journey concludes.
