Nintendo Delays Japanese Release of Alarmo Alarm Clock Despite Global Availability
Due to unexpectedly high demand and insufficient stock, Nintendo has announced a postponement of the general retail release of its Alarmo alarm clock in Japan. Initially slated for a February 2025 launch, the release has been indefinitely delayed. This decision follows the alarm clock's successful global launch in October 2024.
The company cites current production and inventory challenges as the reason for the delay. While the impact on international availability remains unclear (with a general release planned for March 2025), Nintendo Japan has implemented a temporary pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers in Japan. This pre-order period is scheduled to begin in mid-December, with shipments expected in early February 2025. Specific pre-order dates will be announced shortly.
The Alarmo, a popular interactive alarm clock featuring iconic Nintendo soundtracks from franchises like Super Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, initially exceeded expectations. This led to the cessation of online orders and a lottery system for purchases. Physical stock quickly sold out in various locations, including Japanese Nintendo stores and the New York flagship store.
Further updates regarding pre-orders and the rescheduled general release date will be provided soon.
