Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak Patch Size Revealed

Monster Hunter Wilds launched with a surprisingly hefty day-one patch, weighing in at a substantial 18GB. While the patch notes remain elusive, players are urged to download this update for significantly improved performance.

The large file size is likely attributed to the inclusion of high-resolution textures, notably absent from review copies. This addition, demanding considerable storage space, would dramatically enhance the game's visual fidelity. Given the PlayStation 5's initial release, the patch may also incorporate PS5 Pro enhancements, boosting gameplay for console users, as Capcom confirmed Monster Hunter Wilds would be PS5 Pro enhanced at launch. Bug fixes are another expected component of this update, addressing any remaining issues before the wider player base experiences them.

Despite its "day-one" designation, pre-order players may download the patch prior to the official release date. Those with slower internet connections are advised to install the patch before February 28th to ensure a smooth launch-day experience.

Importantly, this 1.000.020 patch is primarily focused on optimization and bug fixing, not new content. Players seeking additional content will need to look to the game's post-launch DLC. This includes three paid DLC packs, complemented by two free content updates. The first free update, arriving in spring, introduces Mizutsune and event quests, with further content, including new monsters and missions, expected in the summer.
