Crytek Announces Restructuring, Layoffs, and Crysis Game Delay
Crytek has announced a restructuring plan involving staff reductions and a temporary halt to the development of the next Crysis game. The company, facing financial difficulties, will lay off approximately 60 employees, representing about 15% of its 400-person workforce.
This restructuring was announced alongside the news that development of the next Crysis title has been paused, a decision reportedly made in Q3 2024. Crytek will now focus its resources on the continued development and expansion of Hunt: Showdown 1896.
The studio explored options for reassigning affected employees to other projects, but ultimately determined layoffs were necessary despite cost-cutting measures. Affected employees will receive severance packages and career support.

Crytek's future plans center on expanding Hunt: Showdown 1896's content and further developing its CRYENGINE technology. While the new Crysis game is indefinitely delayed, the company remains positive about its long-term prospects.
