Ubisoft Quietly Launches New NFT Game: Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E.
Ubisoft's latest venture into the NFT gaming space, Captain Laserhawk: The G.A.M.E., has been quietly released. This top-down multiplayer arcade shooter, as reported by Eurogamer on December 20th, requires players to purchase an NFT to participate.
Expanding the universe of the Netflix series Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the game incorporates elements from popular Ubisoft franchises like Watch Dogs and Assassin's Creed. Limited to 10,000 players, access is granted through the purchase of a Citizen ID Card NFT via Ubisoft's claim page on Magic Eden for $25.63. This card tracks player achievements and rankings, evolving based on in-game performance. Players can also resell their IDs.
The full launch is slated for Q1 2025, with early access for those who secured an ID.
A Netflix Series Inspired by Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon DLC
Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix, the Netflix series, serves as an animated spin-off of Far Cry 3's Blood Dragon expansion. Set in an alternate 1992 where the US is a megacorporation-controlled technocracy called Eden, the series follows Dolph Laserhawk, a supersoldier, and his complex relationship with his former partner.
While Ubisoft hasn't detailed the game's narrative, it shares this universe, casting players as citizens of Eden. Player actions, including mission completion and community engagement, directly influence the game's storyline and leaderboard rankings.
