Mikami and Suda Hint at a Killer7 Sequel and Remaster
Killer7: A New Chapter or a Definitive Edition?
During Grasshopper Direct, Shinji Mikami and Goichi "Suda51" Suda explored the possibility of both a Killer7 sequel and a complete edition of the beloved title. While the focus was primarily on the upcoming Shadows of the Damned remaster, the conversation shifted to future projects. Mikami expressed his desire for a Killer7 sequel, calling it a personal favorite.
Suda51 shared Mikami's enthusiasm, suggesting a sequel might happen "someday," even playfully tossing around potential titles like "Killer11" or "Killer7: Beyond."
Killer7, a cult classic action-adventure game blending horror, mystery, and Suda51's signature over-the-top style, was released in 2005. The game follows Harman Smith, a man capable of manifesting seven distinct personalities, each with unique abilities. Despite its dedicated fanbase, a sequel has remained elusive. Even after the 2018 PC remaster, Suda51 voiced his interest in revisiting his original vision.
Suda51 proposed a "Complete Edition" of Killer7, an idea Mikami jokingly dismissed. However, the discussion revealed the original game had extensive unused dialogue for the character Coyote, which could be included in a complete edition.
The prospect of a sequel or a complete edition has excited fans. While nothing is confirmed, the creators' enthusiasm fuels speculation about Killer7's future.
Mikami suggested fans would appreciate a complete edition, prompting Suda51's response: "We'd have to decide which comes first, Killer7: Beyond or the Complete Edition."
