Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation
Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited fan speculation about a potential return of Poe Dameron. The official Star Wars Celebration Instagram account made the announcement, prompting comparisons to Daisy Ridley's 2023 appearance, where she revealed her involvement in a new Star Wars film.
The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, leaving Isaac's future in the franchise uncertain. While initially expressing reluctance to return—jokingly stating he'd only do so for "another house"—Isaac later told Variety he was "open to anything," indicating a shift in his perspective.
Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, including their rejection of his proposed romance between Poe and Finn (played by John Boyega), have added intrigue to the situation. Boyega also voiced past frustrations with Disney but has since expressed openness to future roles.
This renewed speculation centers around the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has publicly expressed her desire for Boyega's return, and the inclusion of Poe, the final member of the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, would seem a natural progression.
While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer some answers, fans face a considerable wait. Disney's repeated delays of several announced Star Wars films have pushed the earliest possible release date for the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) to December 17, 2027.
