Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating the arrival of season two with a wave of fresh content! Expect new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, watching the new episodes unlocks exclusive in-game rewards!
Netflix's surprising holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed—free to all players, subscribers or not—was a bold move. Now, with this season two update, they're cleverly incentivizing non-subscribers to check out the show by offering enticing rewards for viewing!
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Mingle mini-game from Squid Game season two is added. Three new playable avatars—Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and rapper Thanos—will also debut throughout January.
Geum-Ja and Thanos each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. Watching Squid Game season two earns you in-game Cash and Wild Tokens; watching seven episodes unlocks the Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content calendar for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: Mingle map and Geum-Ja character arrive. The Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event (until the 9th) challenges players to complete Mingle mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos joins the game, alongside his recruitment event, the Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until the 14th). Eliminate opponents using knives to earn this character.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik, the final new character in this wave, makes his appearance.
Squid Game: Unleashed is proving to be a significant step for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a risky, yet effective, strategy. Rewarding subscribers and encouraging viewing is a clever way to bolster both the game and the show's success.
