Smite 2's Open Beta Launch: January 14, 2025
Get ready! Smite 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the popular MOBA, launches its free-to-play open beta on January 14, 2025. This marks a significant milestone for the Unreal Engine 5-powered game, which entered Alpha in 2024.
This open beta will feature a wealth of new content, including:
- Aladdin: The first God from the Tales of Arabia pantheon, debuting alongside the open beta. This Magical Assassin and Jungler boasts unique abilities like wall-running and enemy trapping.
- Returning Favorites: Popular Gods from the original Smite, such as Mulan, Geb, Ullr, and Agni, are making a comeback with updated skill sets.
- Expanded Roster: The God roster will significantly expand, nearing 50 Gods by the end of January 2025, offering a diverse range of mythological figures.
- New Game Modes: Experience the thrill of Joust (3v3) and Duel (1v1), both featuring a new Arthurian-themed map with teleporters and stealth grass.
- Aspects System: This innovative system allows players to modify a God's abilities, trading a specific trait for a powerful bonus. 20 Gods will initially feature Aspects, with more to come. For example, Athena will sacrifice her ally shielding teleport for a damaging teleport to enemies.
- Quality-of-Life Improvements: Smite 2 boasts numerous quality-of-life enhancements, including Role Guides, improved in-game messaging, PC text chat, item store upgrades, and detailed death recaps.
The open beta will showcase approximately 45 dynamic Gods, offering a diverse and engaging gameplay experience. The first Smite 2 esports tournament finale will also take place at the HyperX Arena in Las Vegas from January 17-19.
