The Sims turns 25 this year! To celebrate this milestone, numerous titles within the franchise are receiving updates, including mobile versions. The Sims FreePlay, for example, features exciting new Y2K throwback content with its "FreePlay 2000" update.
When discussing landmark gaming franchises, names like Doom, Wolfenstein, The Elder Scrolls, Final Fantasy, Super Mario, and Tetris often come up. But let's not forget a giant: Maxis's The Sims, celebrating its 25th anniversary!
Initially conceived as a spin-off of SimCity, The Sims revolutionized gaming by focusing on simulating the lives of everyday people. Players gained unprecedented control over their Sims' lives, guiding them through childhood, education, marriage, careers, parenthood, and ultimately, their demise.
Its enduring popularity across various iterations solidified The Sims' place as a major gaming franchise, pioneering an entire genre. In fact, our company even created a dedicated website for The Sims news! It's no surprise that EA is launching major anniversary celebrations across all platforms, from The Sims 4 to The Sims FreePlay.
