A new Sims game is in the works, and it's available now in Australia! While not the highly anticipated Sims 5, The Sims Labs: Town Stories offers a taste of what's to come. Currently in its playtest phase, this mobile simulation game is part of EA's broader Sims Labs initiative, a testing ground for new gameplay mechanics and features.
This mobile title, found on the Google Play Store (though not yet globally available), blends classic Sims building with narrative-driven character interactions. Players construct neighbourhoods, guide residents through personal storylines, manage careers, and unearth Plumbrook's secrets. Access requires signing up through EA's website, and is currently exclusive to Australia.
Initial reactions from gamers have been mixed, with some Reddit users expressing concern over the graphics and the potential for microtransactions. However, given the game's experimental nature, the visuals and gameplay may evolve significantly as development progresses. The gameplay appears to draw inspiration from earlier Sims titles.
