Rumor: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake Canceled

The highly anticipated Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, first teased in September 2021, remains shrouded in uncertainty. Recent claims suggest the project may have been indefinitely halted, dashing the hopes of many fans. This comes from Alex Smith, former head of Bend Studio and a veteran of the acclaimed Syphon Filter series.

Smith, via his X account, alleges that development on the SW: KotOR Remake has ceased, contradicting Saber Interactive's 2024 statement that the project was still in progress. He claims some team members have been reassigned, while others have faced layoffs. Confirmation of this would severely disappoint fans eagerly awaiting the iconic RPG's remake.

It's important to note Smith's track record includes accurate insider leaks, such as his prediction of a new Housemarque game announcement. However, his past predictions regarding Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Tsushima's release dates proved inaccurate, tempering expectations.

As of yet, Saber Interactive and Aspyr have not officially addressed these claims, leaving the future of the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake uncertain.
