Koei Tecmo's Q1 2024 financial report unveils an exciting lineup of upcoming games, including a new Dynasty Warriors title and a yet-to-be-announced AAA game.
A New Dynasty Warriors Game After a Long Wait
Omega Force is developing "Dynasty Warriors Origins," a tactical action game set during the Three Kingdoms period. This marks the first mainline Dynasty Warriors release since 2018's Dynasty Warriors 9 (excluding the 2022 expansion). Launching in 2025 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam), the game features a "Nameless Hero" as its protagonist.
The report also confirmed the global release of "Romance of the Three Kingdoms 8 Remake" (October 2024 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC) and "FAIRY TAIL 2" (Winter 2024 for PS4, PS5, Switch, and PC). However, the most intriguing news is the confirmation of at least one unannounced AAA title currently in development.
Koei Tecmo's Q1 profits were significantly boosted by continued sales of Rise of the Ronin, underscoring the company's ambitions in the AAA market.
Koei Tecmo's Commitment to AAA Development
Koei Tecmo's strategic goal is to establish a consistent pipeline of AAA titles. The creation of a dedicated AAA studio is a key component of this strategy, aiming for sustained growth through the regular release of large-scale games. While details about the unannounced AAA project remain scarce, the company's commitment to this sector is clear. The definition of AAA games, as high-budget productions from major studios, perfectly aligns with Koei Tecmo's stated aspirations.
