Pokémon Generation 10: Dual Switch Release Possible?

Recent leaks suggest a surprising development for the upcoming Pokémon Generation 10 games: potential releases on both the original Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2. While many anticipated a Switch 2 exclusive release given the performance issues plaguing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the original hardware, leaked information points to a different scenario.

According to leaks from a Game Freak insider, shared by Centro Leaks, Generation 10, codenamed "Gaia," is primarily being developed for the original Switch. However, a separate project, "Super Gaia," appears to be a Switch 2 version. Furthermore, there's speculation that Pokémon Legends: Z-A might also receive a native Switch 2 release.

The Switch 2's backward compatibility ensures that regardless of native releases, Switch 2 owners will be able to play both Generation 10 and Legends: Z-A. While improved performance on the Switch 2 is anticipated, the specifics of any potential enhancements for Switch 2 ports remain unclear.

Uncertainty Remains

It's crucial to remember that all this information is based on leaks and should be treated with caution. Official confirmation is expected during the rumored Pokémon Presents event on February 27th. However, reports suggest this event will primarily focus on games for the original Switch, potentially hinting at a longer wait for a dedicated Switch 2 Pokémon title. If the Generation 10 games target the original Switch, a main series Pokémon game built specifically for the Switch 2 might be years away.
