Pokémon Sleep Development Transitioned to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company's subsidiary, Pokémon Works, will assume responsibility for the development and future updates of Pokémon Sleep, previously managed by Select Button. This transition was announced via an in-app notification on the Japanese version of Pokémon Sleep.
From Select Button to Pokémon Works
The Pokémon Company established Pokémon Works in March 2024, fueling speculation about its future projects. The handover of Pokémon Sleep development from Select Button to Pokémon Works marks a significant development in this new subsidiary's portfolio. An in-app announcement confirmed the gradual transition of development and operation from Select Button to Pokémon Works. The global app's news section has yet to reflect this change.
Pokémon Works, a collaborative venture between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd., is based in Shinjuku, Tokyo, sharing proximity with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl. Its representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, highlighted past contributions to Pokémon HOME and expressed a vision to make the Pokémon experience more immersive and accessible. The specifics of how this vision will be implemented in Pokémon Sleep remain to be seen. While their direct involvement in Pokémon projects has been limited, the company's commitment to enhancing the Pokémon experience is clear.
