Pokémon GO's Eggs-pedition Access: A December 2024 Value Assessment
Choosing wisely from Pokémon GO's numerous in-app purchases can be tricky. This December, the Eggs-pedition Access paid ticket returns for the Dual Destiny season – but is it a worthwhile investment?
What's Included in the Dual Destiny Eggs-pedition Access Ticket?
Available from December 3rd, 10 AM to December 31st, 8 PM local time, this $5 (or local equivalent) ticket offers several benefits:
- Daily single-use Incubator (from first PokéStop/Gym spin).
- Triple XP for the first daily catch.
- Triple XP for the first daily PokéStop/Gym spin.
- Increased daily gift opening limit: up to 50 gifts.
- Increased daily gift acquisition limit: up to 150 gifts from PokéStops.
- Increased gift inventory capacity: up to 40 gifts.
- Exclusive December Timed Research: 15,000 XP and 15,000 Stardust upon completion.
December 2024 Egg Lineup:
The boosted incubator and gift limits significantly increase egg hatching potential, particularly for the 7km eggs. But are the December Pokémon worth the extra PokéCoins?
Here's a breakdown of the available Pokémon by egg type:
2km Eggs: Psyduck, Swablu, Bonsly, Shiny Larvesta, Litleo, Wimpod.
5km Eggs: Clamperl, Blitzle, Inkay, Skarmory (Adventure Sync), Munchlax (Adventure Sync), Riolu (Adventure Sync), Tyrunt (Adventure Sync), Amaura (Adventure Sync).
7km Eggs: Alolan Meowth, Shiny Alolan Grimer, Hisuian Voltorb, Hisuian Qwilfish, Galarian Corsola, Basculin (Red/Blue Striped), Galarian Farfetch’d (Mateo), Pancham (Mateo).
10km Eggs: Druddigon, Dreepy, Charcadet, Espurr (Adventure Sync), Turtonator (Adventure Sync), Jangmo-o (Adventure Sync), Frigibax (Adventure Sync).
Young & Wise Event (December 10th-14th): This event adds baby Pokémon to the egg pool, with an XP bonus for hatching. These include Togepi, Tyrogue, Shiny Smoochum, Bonsly, Happiny, and Munchlax (all 2km).

Is the Ticket Worth It?
Assuming daily PokéStop spins, the 28 extra incubators alone nearly match the ticket price ($4.20 equivalent). Factor in the additional gifts, XP bonuses, and the chance at desirable Pokémon, and the ticket becomes more attractive for dedicated players who regularly purchase incubators. However, if egg hatching isn't a priority, or if external factors limit playtime, the added benefits might not justify the cost unless gift-sending is a key gameplay element.
