Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed hidden encounters within the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent stat boosts, extra passive skill points, and even weapon skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. However, its location makes it easy to miss. This guide explains how to find and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan shrine appears in the Spires of Deshar map, both in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Interacting with the shrine grants the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Its understated icon on the world map often leads to players overlooking it.
Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed path to the shrine within the Spires of Deshar. Thorough exploration is key. The shrine resembles the image above. Upon interaction, nearby metallic automatons will activate and attack. In fact, activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.
If you reach a checkpoint before finding the shrine, utilize the checkpoint's fast travel option to avoid retracing your steps through the map.
Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff
The +10% Lightning Resistance is granted instantly upon interaction with the Sisters of Garukhan statues. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's automatically applied.
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine twice yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Troubleshooting: Why Isn't My Lightning Resistance Increasing?
Many players are confused when their resistance values remain negative even after activating the shrine.
This is due to a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances applied after each Act completion (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, activating the shrine in Act 2 initially nets zero Lightning Resistance (the buff cancels the Act 1 debuff). In Act 2 Cruel, the net Lightning Resistance will improve from -40% to -30% after activating the shrine.
To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you have successfully completed all necessary steps.
