NetherRealm Studios Unveils T-1000 Gameplay and Madam Bo Kameo Fighter for Mortal Kombat 1

Get ready for some metallic mayhem! NetherRealm has dropped the first gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion. The footage showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, including the T-1000's signature morphing abilities and weaponized limbs. His moveset draws parallels to characters like Baraka and Kabal, with a liquid metal uppercut echoing Killer Instinct's Glacius. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides the voice and likeness, making his debut in a showdown against Johnny Cage. The trailer culminates in a brutal Fatality, a reimagining of the iconic Terminator 2 truck chase scene.

Adding to the excitement, NetherRealm surprised fans with the announcement of Madam Bo as a DLC Kameo fighter, launching alongside the T-1000. This popular character from the main Mortal Kombat 1 storyline, a formidable restaurant owner, will provide support in combat. Brief glimpses of Madam Bo's gameplay are shown in the trailer.

The T-1000 will be available via early access for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo arrives as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, or as a separate purchase.

While the T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC, speculation continues about a potential third Kombat Pack. Warner Bros. Discovery's commitment to the Mortal Kombat franchise remains strong, with CEO David Zaslav highlighting it as one of four key titles for future development. Ed Boon, Mortal Kombat's creative director, previously stated NetherRealm's next project was decided three years ago, but reaffirmed their long-term support for Mortal Kombat 1.

Madam Bo joins the Mortal Kombat 1 roster as a Kameo fighter.

Despite fan anticipation for a new Injustice game, NetherRealm has yet to confirm its next project. While the studio previously alternated between Mortal Kombat and Injustice titles, the development of Mortal Kombat 1, a soft reboot, in 2023, followed by another Mortal Kombat game instead of Injustice, was influenced by factors including the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to Unreal Engine 4. However, Ed Boon has explicitly stated that the Injustice franchise is not closed off.
