Pokémon GO's Next Season Hints at Dynamax and Gigantamax, Welcomes Morpeko
Get ready for significant updates to Pokémon GO! Developer Niantic has dropped hints suggesting the arrival of Dynamax and Gigantamax mechanics, features initially seen in Pokémon Sword and Shield. The upcoming season promises "big changes, big battles, and…big Pokémon."
The arrival of Morpeko, a Pokémon known for its form-changing abilities, fuels this speculation. Niantic stated, "Coming soon: Morpeko will charge into Pokémon GO, changing the way you battle! Certain Pokémon—like Morpeko—will be able to change form in battle by using a Charged Attack, unleashing new possibilities for you and your battle team."
While specifics remain under wraps, the new season, starting in September, is expected to heavily feature Galar Pokémon, further intensifying the anticipation for Dynamax and Gigantamax. The possibility of other Galar region Pokémon like Mimikyu and Aegislash also joining the roster is exciting for fans. How these mechanics will be implemented in Pokémon GO remains to be seen; the Power Spots from Sword and Shield may or may not have a counterpart in the mobile game.
