A Modern Revival of a 90s Icon
Metal Slug: Awakening offers a contemporary take on the beloved franchise, initially teased in 2020 as Metal Slug Code: J by TiMi Studios. After a Southeast Asian debut in late 2023 and several delays, this modernized iteration is finally ready for worldwide release.
For the uninitiated, Metal Slug, a Japanese run-and-gun series debuting in 1996 (courtesy of Nazca Corporation), has evolved into a significant multimedia franchise. While previous mobile entries like Metal Slug Defense (2014), Metal Slug Attack (2016), and Metal Slug Commander (2020) existed, Awakening promises enhanced features and gameplay.
Classic Action, Enhanced Experience
This new installment retains the series' core shooter mechanics while introducing updated visuals and innovative gameplay elements. Players can expect to revisit familiar characters and embark on new missions. Game modes include a World Adventure, 3-player cooperative Team-up battles, and challenging Roguelike encounters.
