Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater retains the mature themes and suggestive content from Metal Gear Solid 3, including the controversial Peep Demo Theatre, according to newly revealed age classification details.
While Konami hasn't officially confirmed the inclusion of these elements, the ESRB has assigned the stealth action remake an Mature 17+ rating citing realistic combat violence and "suggestive/sexual content." The rating specifically mentions graphic scenes including torture sequences and graphic injuries.
The ESRB's detailed description reveals: "Cutscenes contain intense violence including a restrained character being tortured, an execution-style headshot, and a character being burned alive while shot repeatedly."
The board's notes specifically address the mature content: "The game contains sexual elements including unwanted physical contact, revealing camera angles focusing on female characters, and the return of the Peep Demo Theatre - a mode allowing first-person viewing of a female character in compromising positions."
The original Peep Demo Theatre was an unlockable feature in Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence and HD Edition that gave players camera control during certain Eva cutscenes. Konami has remained silent on whether this controversial feature includes new content or modifications.
Following a recent teaser, Konami confirmed Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater's August 28 release while revealing the return of the Snake vs. Monkey bonus content from previous versions.
Game critics have noted the remake's faithfulness to the original. "Metal Gear Solid Delta presents more as a polished remaster than a full reimagining," noted IGN in their preview coverage, while highlighting new gameplay elements like the first-person perspective. The original Metal Gear Solid 3 earned a stellar 9.6 from IGN upon its initial release.
