Marvel Rivals Season 1's second half, launching February 21st, finally introduces The Thing and Human Torch. This update also includes rank adjustments. Here's a preview of The Thing's abilities and potential team compositions.

The Thing's Arrival in Marvel Rivals
The Thing, a highly anticipated addition to the relatively small Marvel Rivals Vanguard roster, will be playable on February 21st.
The Thing's Abilities
The Thing is a melee Vanguard (tank) characterized by close-quarters combat. While sharing similarities with the Hulk, his unique abilities include:
- Furious Charge: A dash attack that throws enemies airborne, leaving behind a stunning seismic zone.
- Battlefield Support: A quick jump to aid a teammate, providing damage reduction for both.
- Slam Moment (Ultimate): An ultimate ability that launches all nearby enemies, creating kill opportunities for the team.
- Solid as a Rock (Passive): Immunity to knockback and crowd control effects.
- Team-Up Ability: Similar to the Hulk, he can launch Wolverine as a projectile. His primary attack is a rapid-fire punch with low damage, while his secondary is a higher-damage charged punch.
The Thing appears to be a frontline tank, absorbing damage for his team. Unlike dive tanks, he lacks high mobility. He may prove a strong alternative to existing tanks like Doctor Strange or Magneto, though his exact role remains to be seen until his in-game release.
Optimal Team Compositions
Based on his abilities, The Thing synergizes well with tanks like Thor, Hulk, and Peni Parker. Wolverine offers a strong DPS complement, as do ranged DPS characters like Hawkeye or Namor. Healers such as Mantis and Luna Snow are also good choices, given his limited mobility.
Marvel Rivals is currently available on PS5, PC, and Xbox Series X|S.
