NetEase Games is committed to keeping Marvel Rivals fresh and exciting for its players through regular updates. The developers plan to roll out an update approximately every six weeks, introducing two new heroes each quarter. This strategy ensures that players always have new content to explore, enhancing their gaming experience and encouraging them to return to the game.
In an insightful interview, game director Guangyun Chen shared that each seasonal update is strategically divided into two parts. The first half of the season will feature the introduction of one new hero, while the second half will bring in another. This approach not only keeps the gameplay dynamic but also maintains continuous engagement among both the audience and the players.
In addition to new heroes, Marvel Rivals will also offer updates in the form of new maps, engaging storylines, and fresh objectives. Characters like Blade, who is not yet playable, and Altron, known from leaks, have already been introduced. The entire Fantastic Four team was also recently unveiled, adding to the anticipation and excitement surrounding the game.
According to the Chinese publication GameLook, Marvel Rivals has generated around $100 million globally, with a significant portion of the earnings coming from the Chinese market. Marvel, a dominant force in the film industry, has successfully made a notable entry into the gaming sector with this title.
Despite a previous setback with Square Enix's Avengers, Marvel Rivals has effectively filled a niche in the game-service genre. NetEase's studio has delivered a high-quality heroic shooter featuring a compelling roster of characters, which was well-received upon its launch.
