Marvel Easter Egg Hints at Upcoming Hero

Marvel Rivals: Wong's Potential Arrival Hints at Exciting Season 1

The upcoming Season 1 of Marvel Rivals, titled "Eternal Night," has ignited speculation among players regarding the potential addition of Wong to the game's roster. This speculation stems from a recently released trailer showcasing the new Sanctum Sanctorum map.

A keen-eyed Reddit user, fugo_hate, spotted a brief glimpse of a painting depicting Wong, Doctor Strange's mystical ally, within the trailer. This subtle Easter egg has fueled fervent discussions within the Marvel Rivals community (r/marvelrivals). The game, a multiplayer hero shooter comparable to Overwatch, has already garnered over 10 million players in its first 72 hours, demonstrating significant player interest.

Season 1, launching January 10th, features Dracula as the main antagonist, suggesting a supernatural theme. This is further supported by the confirmed inclusion of the Fantastic Four (Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing), along with their villainous counterparts, the Maker and Malice, as alternate skins.

Wong's potential inclusion is intriguing, considering his rising popularity thanks to Benedict Wong's MCU portrayal. While previously featured in games like Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (non-playable) and Marvel Contest of Champions, his appearance in Marvel Rivals would mark a significant step.

However, the painting could simply be a tribute to Wong's close ties with Doctor Strange, given the Sanctum Sanctorum's numerous Marvel universe references. Regardless, the mystery surrounding Wong's potential role adds another layer of excitement to Season 1, which also introduces a new Doom Match mode and three additional locations. The arrival of Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman as playable characters on January 10th further enhances the anticipation for the season's launch.
