Exciting developments are unfolding in the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Mark Ruffalo's Hulk is rumored to make a comeback in next year's Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, both Sony and Marvel have chosen not to comment on the speculation that Ruffalo will reprise his role as Bruce Banner in the highly anticipated 2026 superhero sequel.
In related casting news, Michael Mando is reportedly returning as the supervillain Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, for Brand New Day. The character was last seen in 2017's Spider-Man: Homecoming, which marked Tom Holland's debut as the web-slinging hero.
Ruffalo most recently portrayed the Hulk in the 2022 Disney+ series She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, though a follow-up series currently appears unlikely. While Ruffalo's name was absent from the confirmed cast list for Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel has hinted at additional announcements, leaving open the possibility of the Hulk's involvement in some capacity.
As production gears up, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is gradually revealing its form. On August 1, Sony unveiled the film's first teaser, though it offered only a brief, eight-second glimpse of Spider-Man's updated costume.

The teaser release and Hulk rumors coincide with leaked set photos featuring an armored truck, which seem to confirm the appearance of a classic Spider-Man antagonist in Brand New Day.
