Love and Deepspace is enhancing its security measures in China with a new face verification system launching in April 2025. This might sound stringent, but it's directly tied to China's existing regulations.
Why the Face Verification in China?
China mandates real-name authentication for online games, especially those rated 18+, like Love and Deepspace in that region. This face verification system is a direct response to the country's efforts to combat underage gaming, a key component of the Minors' Protection Law. This law already includes playtime restrictions for minors (90 minutes on weekdays, three hours on weekends) and mandatory "Healthy Gaming Advice" before gameplay begins. Facial recognition is also increasingly common in China for everyday security purposes, from banks to airports.
What Does This Mean for Global Players?
Rest assured, players outside of China are unlikely to see any changes. The face verification system is specifically implemented to comply with Chinese regulations. Since Love and Deepspace maintains a 12+ rating in most global app stores, there are currently no plans to introduce similar verification methods internationally.
