Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era Launches Open Arena Mode Test

Unfrozen has unveiled an exciting new gameplay trailer for Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era, providing fans with a detailed look at the game's strategic elements, including mechanics, units, and overall gameplay. This trailer comes alongside the announcement of the opening of registrations for the closed beta test of the game's "Arena" mode. Enthusiasts eager to get an early taste of this mode can now request access through the game's Steam page, with the testing phase scheduled to run from March 17 to March 28.

Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era is gearing up for its early access launch on Steam in the second quarter of 2025. At launch, players can expect a robust experience with six distinct factions, three immersive single-player modes, and three competitive multiplayer modes. Ubisoft, a major player in the gaming industry, has taken on the publishing responsibilities for this eagerly awaited title.

In a recent reveal, the developers introduced the Dungeon faction, bringing to life a roster of creatures such as troglodytes, dark elves, minotaurs, medusas, hydras, and dragons. These units are not just visually impressive but also add a rich layer of strategic depth to the game, enhancing the diversity of gameplay options available to players.

The team at Unfrozen has been open about the challenges they encountered while developing the Arena mode, particularly in the areas of skill and hero balancing. These challenges were primarily due to the limited space and the absence of starting advantages within the mode. However, the developers have successfully navigated these hurdles, ensuring that the Arena mode will offer a smooth and engaging experience for all players.

While Heroes of Might & Magic: Olden Era is slated for a PC release later this year, an exact launch date remains under wraps. The game is being meticulously designed to cater to both long-time fans of the series and newcomers, promising a strategic and immersive gaming experience that appeals to a broad audience.
