At the start of Avowed, you face a crucial decision: free the suspicious prisoner Ilora from her cell in Fort Northreach, or leave her fate sealed. Your ultimate goal is to use her boat to reach Paradis, but the choice you make here significantly impacts your journey. Should you free Ilora, or leave her behind?
Should You Free or Leave Ilora?
While Avowed encourages roleplaying your character authentically, freeing Ilora is strongly recommended. This path simplifies Fort Northreach and unlocks a later side quest.

What Happens If You Don’t Free Ilora in Avowed?
Leaving Ilora imprisoned makes Fort Northreach significantly harder, and "Escape Plan" becomes a much greater challenge. Ironically, Ilora doesn't remain imprisoned; you'll later face her in combat, further complicating your escape from Fort Northreach. However, choosing this path allows you to loot her body after defeating her.
Ultimately, freeing Ilora offers a smoother, more rewarding experience in Avowed.
