In "Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2," Hans needs your help in the main quest, "For Whom the Bell Tolls," at Trosky Castle. This involves crafting a Fever Tonic.
Locating the Fever Tonic Recipe:
The recipe is found within the Surgeon's Workshop in Trosky Castle. Access can be gained through stealth or persuasion. To persuade the Chamberlain, complete the "For Whom the Bell Tolls" objectives up to delivering the horseshoe. Then, speak with Cook Fanka at the forge, offering to help with her locked chest. This leads you to the noble's kitchen and the Chamberlain. Convincing him you can improve his health (via skill checks) grants access to the workshop. Alternatively, if skill checks fail, steal food, proceed to the other courtyard stairs, bribe the guard with the stolen food, and sneak into the workshop.
The Surgeon's journal, containing the recipe, is on a bookshelf in the workshop.
Brewing the Fever Tonic:
The necessary herbs are already at the surgeon's station. Follow these steps:
- Pour wine into the cauldron.
- Add 3 handfuls of Feverfew.
- Lower the heat and boil for 2 turns of the sandglass.
- Grind a handful of Elderberry Leaves.
- Add the ground Elderberry Leaves.
- Add 2 handfuls of Ginger.
- Take a phial from the bottom-left shelf.
- Distill the tonic using the Still.
Additional herbs are available in the chest if needed.
Completing the Quest:
After brewing the Fever Tonic (and optionally, a Digestive Potion for the Chamberlain), find Thomas. If you have the Chamberlain's trust, return to him with both potions. Otherwise, use the noble's kitchen to reach Thomas and Adele in the chapel. Speak with Adele to conclude the quest.
