Evil Dead Game Delisted After 3 Years, Servers Remain Active

by Jason Mar 09,2026

Evil Dead: The Game has been removed from digital storefronts and is no longer available for purchase.

This asymmetric multiplayer title, based on the beloved action-horror film series, launched in 2022 for PC, PlayStation, and Xbox. IGN's review scored it an 8/10, stating: "Evil Dead: The Game is an asymmetric multiplayer experience that's compelling and exhilarating, even with some rough edges - a fitting tribute to the horror-comedy films that inspired it."

A Game of the Year Edition released a year later failed to significantly boost player counts. By September 2023, the Nintendo Switch version was canceled and all new content development ceased.

Now, three years post-launch, Evil Dead: The Game has been permanently delisted. However, its servers will stay active for players who already own the game.

The developer and publisher, Saber Interactive, announced the change on the game's Steam page:

We can confirm we've begun the process of removing the game from digital storefronts. Anyone who has purchased the game will still be able to play it as we plan to keep our servers online for everyone.
We want to extend a sincere thank you to our community, to those who have been part of the game from the very beginning, and those who have recently joined us. We appreciate all of your support.

The decision to pull the game has generated numerous negative reviews on its Steam page, with many players declaring it effectively dead. The title currently maintains a 'Mixed' overall user rating.

"The end is nigh," reads one recent positive review from a player with over 380 hours logged. "It was fun while it lasted, lads. I mean that."

Saber Interactive, the studio behind last year's hit Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2, has several licensed movie games in development. These include John Carpenter's Toxic Commando, Jurassic Park Survival, and an untitled Avatar: The Last Airbender project. Turok: Origins and Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 are also in the works.
