Elden Ring Day-One Patch Brings Key Changes

by Allison Nov 05,2025

The highly anticipated Elden Ring Nightreign is launching imminently, with Bandai Namco detailing crucial day-one patch adjustments.

Patch 1.01 is now available ahead of the multiplayer spin-off's release on May 29-30 (varies by timezone). Players can consult the global launch schedule for exact timing.

According to Bandai Namco, the update enhances character controls, implements balancing changes, refines in-game text, introduces new narrative content, expands musical tracks, and addresses various technical issues.

"This update delivers gameplay refinements and stability enhancements to optimize your initial journey through Limveld," Bandai Namco stated. The latest version (Ver. 1.01) appears in the title screen's bottom-right corner.

In IGN's exclusive interview with director Junya Ishizaki, he addressed design decisions regarding solo and trio gameplay modes. When questioned about the absence of dedicated two-player co-op without matchmaking, Ishizaki acknowledged this as an oversight.

"We sincerely apologize for not implementing pure duo play," Ishizaki explained. "Our primary development focus was creating balanced three-player co-op, which remains Nightreign's core experience. Though we prioritized making solo play viable within existing systems, we regrettably didn't allocate sufficient attention to dual-player scenarios."

The director confirmed the team is evaluating duo-support through post-launch updates, adding: "As gamers ourselves, we understand players' desire for varied party sizes beyond our initial offerings."

Until potential updates arrive, duo teams should expect matchmaking with third players - potentially skilled ones at that.
