Elden Ring Nightreign, the upcoming cooperative action game, will notably omit the poisonous swamps that have become a FromSoftware staple. This revelation comes from product manager Yasuhiro Kitao, who confirmed the absence in a recent press interview.
While a swamp-like area appeared in the Elden Ring Nightreign trailer, Kitao clarified it’s a distinct location. He attributed the missing swamps to the absence of Hidetaka Miyazaki, FromSoftware's head and a known enthusiast of swamp environments featured prominently in Elden Ring and the Dark Souls series. Miyazaki did not participate in Nightreign's development.

Interestingly, a two-player mode might still be added. Currently, only one-player and three-player modes are confirmed, with the exclusion of a two-player mode initially cited as a content balancing challenge. FromSoftware is actively considering incorporating a two-player option, though no final decision has been announced.
Elden Ring Nightreign is slated for release on May 30, 2025, for PC and current and next-generation consoles.
