Beginner’s Guide for Dead Sails

If you're new to Dead Sails, don't worry; the game is straightforward in its core concept. You captain a ship that must sail in a straight line for 10 thousand meters between towns, with the ultimate goal of reaching 100k meters. The key is to keep moving, ensure you have enough fuel, and stay alive. Sounds simple, but it's anything but.

Before You Set Sail

The in-game lobby before you start your voyage can be quite helpful, though it comes at a cost. As a new player, you start with 15 Dabloons, the game's currency. While it's tempting to spend on boats or items like bandages and weapons, you'll find plenty of these in-game. Instead, save your Dabloons for more essential purchases.

How To Choose A Class

We recommend using your initial 15 Dabloons to buy a class. These are perks available in loot boxes, and each purchase costs 3 Dabloons. You might get lucky and land a class you enjoy on your first try. Dead Sails offers excellent Common and Uncommon classes like Pirate and Gunslinger. Your choice should align with your play style. What To Do In Towns

When you start a round, you'll find yourself in a town with your ship docked. These towns appear every 10 thousand meters and serve as safe havens, offering various amenities:

  • Trading Hut: Sell items you've collected.
  • General Store: Stock up on essentials.
  • Hospital: Heal yourself if needed.
  • Gun Shop: Buy guns and ammunition.
  • Sheriff’s Office: Earn bounty money from pirate and creature corpses.

Starting with a blunt weapon like a pickaxe or hammer, there's no rush to buy a firearm. Instead, prioritize purchasing coal—spend all your money on it if you can. Fuel is crucial in Dead Sails, as the game ends if your ship runs out of fuel.

Dead Sails Tips & Tricks

While the gameplay mechanics are simple, you'll encounter various buildings and structures, and face attacks from undead creatures. Here's what you need to know to master the game.

Tips For Never Running Out Of Fuel

Coal is the lifeblood of your ship, with each chunk adding 20% more fuel. You could technically finish the game by buying 5 pieces of coal in each town, but where's the fun in that? Collectible items with the "fuel" marker provide a 5% increase, but for efficiency, use the corpses of the undead. Kill them to survive, then use their bodies to fuel your ship.

How To Survive The Night

Nighttime in Dead Sails is significantly harder due to reduced visibility. If possible, spend the night in town for safety. Otherwise, buy Barbed Wire from a shop to mount on your ship, preventing mobs from approaching. Without Barbed Wire, pause your journey and attack any creatures that come near.

Which Weapon To Choose

Weapon choice depends on your preference. If you prefer melee, the starting hammer or pickaxe may suffice initially. As you progress and encounter stronger enemies, consider upgrading. A shotgun is an excellent choice for its high damage output, ideal for unexpected combat. Early on, a revolver is a good option to familiarize yourself with firearms, often found in buildings.

Best Items To Collect

Every item you collect can be sold, but with a limited inventory of 10 items, choose wisely. Here are some key items to focus on:

  • Moyai and Bars: Available in diamond, gold, and silver, these are excellent for earning money.
  • Healing Packs: Keep these for emergencies rather than selling.
  • Crosses: Sell for 35 cash or use as weapons against the undead.
  • Weapons: Keep or sell based on your needs.
  • Robot Head: Found in houses and banks, sells for 45 cash.
  • Holy Water: Typically found in churches, sells for 25 cash.
  • Gold Llama: A rare and valuable collectible, sells for 150 cash.

Remember, you can stack items on your boat, but they'll fall off if not welded. Place an item and press the weld button (Z on the keyboard) to secure it.

And that's your beginner's guide to Dead Sails! Follow these tips, and you'll soon become the best captain to ever sail the seas—or, in this case, the narrow, canal-like river. For an extra edge, check out our Dead Sails codes to boost your gameplay.
