Pearl Abyss Rejects PS5 Exclusivity Deal for Upcoming Crimson Desert
Pearl Abyss, the developer behind the anticipated action-adventure title Crimson Desert, has reportedly declined a PlayStation exclusivity deal with Sony. The decision to self-publish the game remains firm, prioritizing independent release across multiple platforms.

The developer confirmed its self-publishing plans in a recent earnings call, emphasizing its commitment to this strategy. While acknowledging ongoing discussions and collaborations with various partners, Pearl Abyss clarified that no release date or definitive platform list has been finalized. Speculation regarding exclusivity is premature.

A playable build of Crimson Desert will be showcased to media this week in Paris and to the public at G-Star in November. Previous reports indicated Sony's attempt to secure a PS5 exclusive deal, potentially excluding Xbox for a period. However, Pearl Abyss deemed self-publishing a more lucrative option.
While a precise release date remains unannounced, a PC, PlayStation, and Xbox launch is anticipated around Q2 2025.
