Monster Hunter Wilds Rey Dau Boss Fight Guide

Rey Dau Overview
Known Habitats: Windward Plains Breakable Parts: Horns, Wings, Tail Recommended Elemental Attacks: Ice and Water Effective Status Effects: Poison (2x), Sleep (2x), Paralysis (1x), Blastblight (2x), Stun (1x), Exhaust (2x) Effective Items: Pitfall Trap, Flash Pod, Dung Pod
Rey Dau, the first dragon encountered in Monster Hunter Wilds, possesses the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's highly vulnerable to ice and water. Its head boasts a 4-star weakness, making it a prime target. The wings offer a 3-star weakness, while the torso is significantly more resilient. If the head proves difficult to hit consistently, focus on its tail. Avoid targeting the legs, as they are well-protected. Utilize all status ailments except Stun and Paralysis (stunning a lightning dragon is futile).
Key Strategies
Use a Flash Pod
Employ Flash Pods to temporarily stun Rey Dau, creating openings for critical hits. During its lightning attacks, aim for its glowing red horns (enter Focus Mode for better visibility) to maximize damage.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
Equip gear that enhances elemental resistance, such as the Hope Armor set. Its Divine Blessing skill mitigates damage and offers protection against lightning and fire. Consider consuming meals that boost your elemental resistance as well.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Rey Dau's flight patterns will shift the battlefield. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found near the lone tree to briefly stun it. Exercise caution near its nest, as it possesses a powerful follow-up lightning attack in that area.
How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Rey Dau offers alternative rewards. Reduce its health to near-death levels (indicated by a skull icon on the minimap). Lay a Pitfall Trap (Shock Traps are ineffective against lightning dragons) and swiftly follow up with a Tranquilizer to secure the capture. Time is of the essence; be prepared to act quickly.
Monster Hunter Wilds is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.
