The Boys Star Jack Quaid Says He’d Love to Be in a Bioshock Movie, as Everyone Else Says He Looks a Lot Like Max Payne in New Film Novocaine

Jack Quaid, star of The Boys, has expressed his strong desire to participate in a BioShock film adaptation. In a recent Reddit AMA, coinciding with the release of his new movie, Novocaine, Quaid cited BioShock as one of his all-time favorite games, highlighting its rich lore as ideal material for a film or television series. He stated, "I would actually love to be in a live-action adaptation of BioShock – one of my favorite games of all time. I think there's such a rich lore to that game that could be explored in a TV or movie adaptation."

The prospect of a BioShock movie, however, remains uncertain. Last July, producer Roy Lee revealed that following internal changes at Netflix, the project had undergone a "reconfiguration," resulting in a smaller, more personal film due to budget constraints. Despite these adjustments, Francis Lawrence, director of The Hunger Games, remains attached to the project. Lee explained, “The new regime has lowered the budgets…So we’re doing a much smaller version. It’s going to be a more personal point of view, as opposed to a grander, big project.” Plot details remain undisclosed, leaving the pre-reconfiguration vision unclear.

Quaid's BioShock comments followed an observation about his striking resemblance to Max Payne, whose likeness is based on Remedy writer Sam Lake. The similarity has led to online speculation comparing scenes from Novocaine to the Max Payne franchise. However, Quaid admitted unfamiliarity with the Max Payne games, stating, "I've seen people say that I look like Max Payne, and when I've looked at the box art, even I did a double-take…I love Rockstar's games, but unfortunately I've never played that one – it's next on the list, for sure.”

Beyond BioShock, Quaid revealed his passion for FromSoftware titles, specifically mentioning his recent completion of Bloodborne and Sekiro, and ongoing progress in Elden Ring. He described his enjoyment of the challenge, stating, “I'm a huge video game nerd…And lately I've been diving headfirst into the FromSoftware library…Actually, the thing I use Reddit the most for is tips and tricks on beating Fromsoft's bosses. I love how challenging the games are – it took me a while to get into them, but now I'm obsessed.”
