Alan Wake 2 developers want to become “Europe's Naughty Dog”

Remedy Entertainment's ambition: to become the European Naughty Dog. Inspired by Naughty Dog's cinematic masterpieces like the Uncharted series, Remedy's director Kyle Rowley, speaking on the Behind The Voice podcast, revealed their aspiration to be "the European counterpart" of the iconic studio. This influence is clearly visible in the development of Quantum Break and, more notably, Alan Wake 2.

Alan Wake 2's cinematic presentation, boasting stunning visuals and a captivating narrative, showcases this ambition. The game's success has cemented Remedy's status as a leading European game developer. Their aspirations extend beyond the horror genre, mirroring Naughty Dog's mastery of single-player cinematic experiences, a legacy built on titles such as Uncharted and the critically acclaimed, award-winning The Last of Us franchise.

Even over a year post-launch, Alan Wake 2 continues to receive updates, enhancing gameplay across all platforms. A significant addition is the optimization for the PS5 Pro, introducing a "Balanced" graphics option that cleverly combines the best aspects of the PS5 Pro Performance and Quality modes. These updates also include minor graphical tweaks for a smoother framerate and clearer visuals, alongside bug fixes, particularly addressing issues within the Lake House expansion.
