Hanafuda Koikoi is a traditional Japanese card game, and the English version is known as Hanafuda Koi-Koi.
Koi-Koi, which translates to "come on" in Japanese, is a popular card game played with Hanafuda cards, suitable for two players. The essence of the game lies in forming combinations of cards, known as "yaku," faster than your opponent. When a player chooses to continue playing rather than cashing in their points, they say "koi-koi," which gives the game its name.
The objective is to create these special yaku combinations from cards collected in a point pile. Players can add cards to their point piles by matching cards from their hand or from the draw pile with those already on the table. After forming a yaku, a player has the option to either stop and collect points or continue playing ("koi-koi") to build more yaku for higher scores. While the individual card values do not directly affect the score, they are crucial for assessing their potential in forming yaku.
