"Nintendo Switch 2 to Feature Zelda Gameplay Enhancements"

The upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 versions of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom will receive several enhancements, including a long-awaited weapon repair system.

During Nintendo's recent Treehouse Live stream, YouTuber Zeltik noticed the Zelda Notes app—an exclusive mobile companion for these Switch 2 editions—features a Daily Bonus function. Players can use this feature to obtain random benefits such as meal buffs, health restoration, stamina recovery, and crucially, equipment repairs.

Durability mechanics in both Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom have always divided fans—all weapons and shields eventually break with use, making this repair option particularly appealing for preserving cherished gear like the Flameblade.

However, Nintendo appears to have balanced this feature carefully. Players can't always expect equipment repairs—the Daily Bonus functions like a roulette wheel with randomized rewards, available only once per day with a cooldown timer. While helpful in emergencies, it's unlikely to fundamentally alter the game's core survival dynamics.

Beyond weapon maintenance, the Zelda Notes app introduces additional content including achievements and exclusive audio lore that expands Hyrule's backstory—a meaningful upgrade alongside the expected graphical improvements.

These refinements should particularly satisfy players frustrated by weapon degradation, while maintaining the series' signature challenge. Combined with better hardware performance, Switch 2 owners can anticipate a more polished open-world experience.
