Smite 2 Goes Free-to-Play

The much-anticipated open beta for *Smite 2* is now available for free on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Steam Deck. Following a successful closed alpha phase, players can dive into the sequel to the beloved third-person MOBA, crafted with the power of Unreal Engine 5. *Smite 2* enhances the gaming experience with refined visuals and smoother combat mechanics, alongside a revamped item shop that breaks down barriers between gods' classifications. Players can once again embody deities from diverse cultures, engaging in thrilling 5v5 battles on expansive maps to conquer their foes.

Starting January 14, gamers across multiple platforms can download *Smite 2* and explore the latest patch, which introduces a wealth of new content. Among the highlights is Aladdin, a god meticulously developed for *Smite 2*. Aladdin brings unique abilities to the battlefield, such as running along walls and reviving after death through his companion's three wishes. His ultimate ability lets him use his lamp to capture enemies, forcing them into a 1v1 showdown that mirrors his legendary tales.

Joining Aladdin on the roster are four other gods: Geb, the Egyptian God of Earth; Mulan, the Chinese Ascendant Warrior; Agni, from the Hindu Pantheon; and Ullr, from the Norse Pantheon. Alongside these new deities, *Smite 2* reintroduces the beloved Joust mode, where players clash on a smaller 3v3 map. Titan Forge Games' creative director has praised *Smite 2* as a significant improvement over the original, crediting the community's feedback during the closed alpha phase. The developer has teased "ambitious content" set to arrive in 2025, ensuring a bright future for the game.

While *Smite 2* is available on nearly every major platform, Nintendo Switch users will miss out due to performance concerns.
