Stellar Blade's Festive Holiday Update: A Cozy Christmas in Xion
Stellar Blade is decking the halls (and Xion) for the holidays with a new event launching December 17th. This update brings festive cheer, new outfits, and a mini-game, but not everyone is celebrating.
New Holiday Outfits and Decorations:
Eve, Adam, and even the Drone get holiday makeovers! Expect vibrant Christmas-themed costumes. Specifically, players can adorn Eve with a Santa dress, a Santa Girl hairstyle, and accessories like Snow Crystal Glasses, Wreath Earrings, and Sleigh Ear Cuffs. Adam sports an "I'm No Santa" outfit, and the Drone gets a Rudolph Pack.
Festive Xion and a New Mini-Game:
Xion itself transforms into a winter wonderland, complete with warm lights and festive decorations. Eve's camp and The Last Gulp also receive the holiday treatment, complemented by new seasonal background music ("Dawn (Winter)" and "Take me away").
A new mini-game adds to the festive fun. While details are scarce, it appears to involve shooting targets on a holiday drone for special rewards.
Control Your Festive Fun:
A new setting allows players to enable or disable seasonal content, including the Nier:Automata DLC. Options include "Auto" (automatic seasonal toggling), "Disable" (always off), and "Enable" (always on). Note: Changing this setting requires a game restart.
Mixed Reception:
The update has been largely well-received, with many fans embracing the "Christmas Eve" nickname for the protagonist and praising Shift Up for consistent seasonal updates.
However, some players question the frequency of event updates for a single-player game with a relatively short playtime (around 30 hours). The need to restart the game to fully experience the seasonal content is a point of contention for some. This contrasts with many other games that incorporate seasonal content into ongoing multiplayer or highly replayable elements.
