Rocksteady Seeks Game Director for New Batman Game

by David Mar 26,2025

Rocksteady Studios is on the hunt for a Game Director for their next big project, as indicated by a recent job listing from Warner Bros. Discovery dated February 17. The chosen Game Director will be instrumental in crafting a "high-quality game design" that covers a wide spectrum of elements, from core gameplay mechanics and player progression to combat systems and mission design. Candidates are expected to have a rich background in various genres, including third-person action, open-world adventures, and melee combat games. This broad requirement has fueled speculation that Rocksteady may be returning to the beloved Batman universe, a franchise synonymous with their success.

The Batman: Arkham series, renowned for its focus on melee combat and open-world exploration, fits seamlessly with the job description, unlike their most recent title, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, which leaned more towards gunplay. Given that Rocksteady is still in the initial stages of hiring, it's clear the new project is currently in its conceptual phase. Industry insider Jason Schreier has indicated that if Rocksteady opts for a new single-player Batman game, fans should brace themselves for a wait of several years.

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, Rocksteady's latest release, hit the shelves on February 2, 2024, available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam. It has garnered mixed reviews, with a critic score of 63 out of 100 and a user score of 4.2 out of 10 on Metacritic.

Speculation about Rocksteady revisiting the Batman franchise has been further fueled by earlier reports suggesting a possible project inspired by the Batman Beyond animated series.
