Midjiwan has unleashed a significant update for The Battle of Polytopia: a complete overhaul of the Aquarion Tribe. This marks a substantial refresh for the game's first special tribe, originally introduced in 2017.
Aquarion's Aquatic Transformation
The Aquarion units have received a dramatic makeover. Land units now boast mermaid tails, making them either fully aquatic or amphibious. This allows for effortless water traversal, although land movement is slower. A new flooded terrain mechanic allows land and naval units to occupy the same space for the first time.
Buildings have also adapted to their aquatic environment. Construction on water is now possible, and Lost Cities are hidden within deep-sea ruins, providing ideal strategic bases. A new structure, the Atoll, connects water cities, eliminating the need for roads. Aqua Crops, a returning feature, are now permanently available, functioning similarly to land-based farms.
New aquatic creatures enhance the gameplay experience. Sharks provide surprise attacks, puffers offer long-range bombardments, and jellies utilize electric shocks. Returning favorites, the Tridentions and Crabs, are also present; crabs now flood the tiles they traverse, complementing the mermaid-tailed troops. See it in action:
