"Oblivion Remastered Retains Iconic Line Flub"

by Madison May 14,2025

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered brings a fresh take on one of Bethesda's landmark titles, enhancing visuals and gameplay mechanics while preserving some of the original's most cherished quirks. Among these is the iconic voice line from Master Speechcraft trainer Tandilwe, a High Elf found in the Temple of the One within the Imperial City. When Oblivion first launched over 19 years ago for PC and Xbox 360, Tandilwe's dialogue included a notable flub by actress Linda Kenyon, which has since become legendary among fans.

As players delved into the revamped world of Cyrodiil yesterday, many were eager to discover how true the remaster stayed to the original. While numerous environments, character models, and items have been beautifully updated, the decision to retain many of the original game's charming imperfections, including Tandilwe’s memorable blooper, has been warmly received. The voice line remains as it was nearly two decades ago, complete with its amusing lack of subtitles.

In a 2019 interview with Jake 'The Voice' Parr on YouTube, Linda Kenyon humorously defended herself against the blooper's fame, stating, "It wasn't my fault!"

As thousands of players dive into Oblivion Remastered, debates swirl around whether this re-release leans more towards a remake or a remaster. Yet, many are thrilled to see that much of the original's endearing "jank" has been preserved, a deliberate choice by Bethesda and Virtuos that has resonated well with both new and returning players.
