Oblivion Remastered Mods Released Online

by Charlotte Apr 24,2025

Bethesda has officially confirmed that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered does not include official mod support. However, this hasn't deterred the game's dedicated fanbase, who have already released several unofficial mods. Mere hours after Bethesda and Virtuos shadow-dropped their reimagining of Oblivion for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X and S, a selection of community-created mods surfaced on the popular modding platform, Nexus Mods. These early mods primarily offer minor customization options, yet they underscore the unwavering dedication of The Elder Scrolls modding community.

By the time this article was published, an impressive 22 mods were already available on the site. The first mod to be released was a simple yet charming one, allowing PC players to customize their desktop by replacing the default Oblivion Remastered shortcut icon with one of two images featuring the game's infamous Adoring Fan. Other mods include options to skip the introduction Bethesda and Virtuos logo screens, as well as mods that modify gameplay elements such as tweaking the Wizard’s Fury spell and removing the compass.

The release of these mods comes in the wake of Bethesda's announcement that Oblivion Remastered would not feature official mod support, a departure from their usual stance on encouraging modding in their games. This was clarified in an FAQ section on their website.

Among the early modders, Nexus Mods user GodschildGaming uploaded their Iron Longsword damage mod to demonstrate that Oblivion Remastered is indeed moddable. In the mod's description, they stated, "This is just to prove modding is possible. Bethesda says no mod support, I say false. It really is Unreal slapped on top of Oblivion, the data folder is nested in a lot more folders but same concept."
