Minecraft's 15th Anniversary and What's Next for the Blocky World!
Fifteen years of building, mining, and surviving – Minecraft has come a long way! Mojang Studios isn't slowing down; they're accelerating development with exciting new features on the horizon.
What's Coming?
Get ready for more frequent updates! Instead of one large summer update, Mojang will release multiple smaller updates throughout the year.
Minecraft Live is evolving too. The annual October event will become a twice-yearly showcase, eliminating the traditional mob vote. This means more frequent updates on development progress and testing phases.
Multiplayer improvements are underway, making it easier to connect with friends and team up for adventures. Plus, a native PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft is in the works.
Beyond the game itself, an animated series and a Minecraft movie are also under development! It’s incredible how far this game, originally known as "Cave Game" in 2009, has come.
The Power of Community
Mojang recognizes the invaluable contributions of the Minecraft community. The cherry groves from the Trails & Tales Update, for instance, originated from a player suggestion.
Community feedback also shaped the new wolf variations, with biome-dependent skins, and even strengthened wolf armor. If you've shared feedback or suggestions, you've directly contributed to Minecraft's evolution.
